I truly loved this, how you're able to wholly take stock of what you have, not dwell on what you don't. It's something everyone has to work consistently at getting better at. I, too, am lucky to be married to the love of my life. Sometimes I rationalize that if I had all the material things I'd dreamed of for myself when I was younger today, it wouldn't be fair to the rest of the world. I don't get to be in a happy dream of a relationship AND have the brownstone. We have a tiny, creaky apartment, but I love it because it's ours, the place where our love lives.
The line "But now I’m a little bit older, and I realize that I’m not going to get everything I ever dreamed for myself. That, in fact, nobody does." made me feel a whole lot better and very seen. Thanks for this one. My Nanny always made me pastina when I was sick. It's is my comfort food, too.

Will be making pastina tonight!
The pastina recipe! I do this too. I must always have pastina on hand (acini de pepe is lovely too), just in case!
Also, I wish you much ease in this time of transition. It’s an adventure, this life, most of all when we slow down to meet it. ❤️
